The Andersen family came to Samsø to experience flying with an eagle and it was an unforgettable day for the whole family. 

Louise Vedel keeps falcons in her thoughts, in her heart and in her care. Louise has trained birds of prey for 15 years and is deeply fascinated by the art of hunting with birds of prey. Falkecenter Samsø has a Saker falcon, which is a strong and powerful species of falcon. Louise explains how the falcon boxes its prey on the ground.

You never get too old for new experiences: three women from Næstved, all close to 100 years old, had the experience of a lifetime when they visited Falkecenter Samsø.

"This surpassed anything I've experienced on my many trips around the world - when I get home, I'll tell people I know the feeling of touching the birds and hearing the rush as they take off and land - it's just top notch" says Revsbæk Andersen. "It was fun to be so close to such big birds and feel their down, how soft it is." 

Amazing flying skills. The falcon circles a couple of times high above us before suddenly plummeting and swooping down towards the spectator seats at high speed. We are at a bird of prey show at Falkecenter Samsø, where we will learn about the fascinating birds and the life as a falconer on Samsø.

During the winter holidays, Samsø Falkecenter invites visitors behind the scenes and shows off the eagle aviary. There is plenty of time to get up close and ask questions. After the tour, the large birds are flown for the audience.

Princess Isabella learned about birds of prey and owls when she visited Samsø on her first official job as princess. Here we see her holding our spotted eagle-owl, Bertha. Afterwards she named our young steppe eagle.  

It was quite an experience for the Prince Consort when he tried his hand as a falconer with Falkecenter Samsø's large white-tailed eagle Paco. Prince Henrik both received and sent the majestic eagle between him and falconer Louise Vedel.
